The following applies to our most common services. The FDM service is performed in-house via our office in Chippendale, Sydney. Through our range of suppliers, we have access to almost all forms of 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC mills. If you like to know which service best suits your needs, please contact us.
FDM 3D Printer: (Rapid and Affordable)
Printer Volume: 230 x 270 x 200mm.
If the object is larger than this it will need to be split into separate parts, which can be easily assembled later.
Minimum Tolerance: 1mm.
This means the absolute minimum thickness of any surface or object must be 1mm. However, structural and essential details will often have to be thicker for the model to survive delivery. Changes in a wall’s thickness may not be recognisable if less than 0.5mm, since this is the thickness of the plastic lines extruded from the machines nozzle.
Typical Layer thickness: 0.25mm.
Thinner layers are possible on request. These layers are visible on close inspection of the object as a texture of thin horizontal lines. Completely smooth objects can be created using ABS and an Acetone Vapour Bath (coming soon) to dissolve the outermost surface.
Recommended Surface Thickness: 2mm.
Walls or curvy/lofted surfaces should be at least this thick so that they can survive delivery.
Recommended Complex/Perforated Surface Thickness: 3mm
If a surface is curving in multiple directions with holes through it, we recommend making it quite thick so that it can be tough when handled. This is particularly true for objects intended to be worn, such as jewellery or headpieces. The same applies for parts of a model which stick out on their own.
Multiple Materials:
For self-supporting objects, up to 2 colours/applicable materials may be printed in a single object. Please submit each colour/material as a separate STL file.
Only one material can be used for objects requiring support structure.
Note that if using support or 2 materials, the practical X-axis is 35mm less because of the distance between the 2 extruders. This means the overlapping volume in which both materials can be printed is actually 195 x 270 x 200mm.

SLS 3D Printer: (High Quality, Finished Products.)
Printer Volume: Up to 650 x 550 x 350 mm. Note Prices are by volume.
If the object is larger than this it will need to be split into separate parts, which can be easily assembled later.
Minimum Tolerance: 0.8mm
The minimum thickness of any surface or column is 0.8mm. However, we recommend that any structure surface be much thicker than this to survive delivery.
If you have gaps between details, then the gaps must be more than 0.5mm so the powder can be removed.
Typical Layer thickness: 0.05mm.
These layers are visible on close inspection of the object as a texture of thin horizontal lines. We have a polishing service for smaller objects.
Recommended Structural Surface Thickness: 1.8mm.
Walls or curvy/lofted surfaces should be at least this thick so that they can survive delivery. They will still print if they are less thick, however we cannot guarantee they survive delivery.
Multiple Materials:
The SLS service is only available in white or black. There can only be only one colour.
For other types of 3D Printing, including full-colour powder, fine detail jewelery, or metallic printing/casting options, please Contact Us.
